When life gives you too many Lemons Make Lemonade – unless you are a Mixed Media Artist! Forget the Lemonade and just attack your Garden with a couple of spray paints and a Stencil or two! Will you regret it in the morning? Maybe? But at least your mind will have gone to a different place for just a little while! Also, you can always just paint it all back to white again, ready for the next spray paint attack.

I found it quite therapeutic really. I have thought about doing some Art in my Garden for a while because I just keep killing off all the potted plants I buy. I don’t have any real soil areas to plant either.

Back to the Lemons (confession I actually put Melons!!). Didn’t realise till I thought about how you would make the lemonade. Where did that saying come from? What does it mean? I know its actually lemons and not too many Melons, but thats exactly why I had to paint the garden fence and the outdoor fish pond casing!
I am in brain overload now. I look at an email and can’t digest the content of it. I know I have the Car MOT due but can’t get my head around how to sort it. I was dealing with it but looking at the paperwork, well it may as well have been a blank piece of paper.

I think apart from new problems that keep arising, I am just starting to digest what we have just gone through as a family in the last 14 Months. It is nowhere near finished either. But those Lemons just keep coming! I was sat in my garden just feeling a little numb. So I jumped up and decided to decorate around the Fish Pond that Paul build before he went away in January 2021. This was the 1st Lemon, to have not seen your Husband for 4 Months when you are told he has passed away immediately makes everything weird, time wise. You can’t believe it. For Months, you can’t comprehend what you have been told. He went away in January and in May when he is still in Africa you are told you will never see your Husband again. Nine days before that you held a Zoom Birthday Party for him.

Anyway lets not go any deeper into that in this blog. I wanted to decorate around the Fish Pond to make it more of a stand out feature instead of just part of the decking. I asked Paul not to put any fish in the new pond until he came home. But he didn’t listen. I have grown quite fond of the 4 Fish Paul bought before he went away. How they have survived with me looking after them I will never know!. Let’s see how they do this week eh, even though I put up a paper cover to protect the water whilst I spray painted through one of my Stencils, there did seem to be a bit of a bitty sheen on top of the water. As I was about to feed them I dragged the top with the green algae and a fish net to see if it would catch any paint that might have entered.

So I have a few visits to the Dr’s in the next few weeks – More Lemons to juggle – so I am glad I got that Spray Paint session under my belt. Try it, it feels great. I can see why these Graffiti Artists can’t stop themselves!!
Has anyone got a large Tropical Leaf Stencil with a Matching Parrot?

See you soon

Oh Sam, that is all starting to look amazing! You have such an incredible eye with stencils. Take time to be kind to yourself – bereavement is a long road and you can’t rush the journey. Make sure you are looking after yourself and don’t try to do too much at once. One step (or day, as Barbara says) at a time xx

Hi Sam.
It looks great! I have been looking for some metal wall art to disguise the side of my garage where I have a patio but maybe a painted mural with stencils is the answer. Or I might try to do a mosaic with bits of old broken china – they look great too.
Be kind to yourself and give yourself time to grieve. I found a lovely poet recently called Donna Ashworth who has written some beautiful pieces about grief. Look her up on Facebook if that would help – I know you are also a poet.
Take care, Susan x
